You aren’t a superstar til you’ve been dacked on stage! We recently chatted with the one and only Avalon ahead of his set at Babylon Festival about the ups and downs (geddit?!) of the life of a A-grade artist…
D: What are you most excited for in 2018, do you believe in new years resolutions?
I don’t, I believe in no expectations. Then you will never get let down! Most excited for Babylon Festival of course! Hehe…
D: What are you listening to right now?
Christmas carols, it’s Xmas day. They sound as lame as I answer this! *laughs*
D: Can you describe your craziest/most enthusiastic fan?
Haha, there have been quite a few contenders. I think getting my trousers and the mixer pulled down mid mix from a die hard Canadian fan was quite a moment. Amazingly the music kept playing!
D: What’s the best piece of advice ever given to you?
I think just BELIEVING in yourself. You can do anything if you really dedicate and work hard!
D: Do you have any exciting new projects or collaborations on the horizon that fans need to know about?
Lots, most exciting is the 2nd Avalon solo album. It’s been a long time coming and I am ready for this journey now. You will hear a few by the time I get to you!
D: What are your impressions of Aussie crowds/festivals?
Bloody love the Aussies, they rock big time in many ways! Great crowd to play to and party with! The Aussies certainly know how to party!
D: Which 3 tracks would you recommend someone who is an Avalon virgin should check out?
Avalon virgins haha! well I reckon Moonshine, Stand Tall and a classic Dance Temple.
D: If you could go back and tell your 20 year old self one message, what would it be?
Buy lots of Bitcoin goddamn it!!!! *laughs*
D: Have you ever had an epic on-stage fail?
DJ table shaking from the massive bass vibrations, moving my sound card over 2 hours, at a really slowly speed so I didn’t notice it. It eventually fell off the table and the music cut off to only about 42,000 people. No pressure! *laughs* thank f**k for USB keys with backup tunes!
To see Avalon dropping tunes like there’s no tomorrow, pick up a ticket to Babylon 2018.
